Flailing again

So, I should totally stop baking pies at midnight and then eating the whole thing while engaging in nightly reading. x _ x I can't help it though... I love apple pie. *sigh*

Well, after finishing another book by P.D. James I decided to amuse myself by re-reading the 'Nutmeg of Consolation' by Patrick O'Brian, and I do believe my neighbours hate me now, because even though I tried to smother my laughter against a pillow, I still did live up to my nickname of Laughing Hyena (and this was at about 4-5 am). XD *erects hyena totem pole at the front door*

Here are a few quotes that led to this depraved behaviour.

Bonden and Killick discussing Stephen's behaviour:

'... and he checked Joe Plaice something cruel for walking backwards into him on the forecastle: "Can't you see where you are a-coming to, God damn your eyes and limbs, you fat-arsed bugger of a longshoreman?" Or words to that effect.'

Killick and Stephen (seriously Killick has the best quotes ever!) on the subject of Jack and his stomach troubles:

'How has the Captain come along since I came below?'
'Which he has taken a ninety-year lease of the quarter-gallery: all you can hear is groaning and gushing.'

And a few quotes that besides making me giggle also made me go aaaaw :3

Stephen comes back from his private chat with Martin at mizzentop:

'Forgive me if I am a little late,' he said, walking into the smell of toasted cheese. 'I am just come from the mizzentop.'
'Not at all,' said Jack. 'As you see, I have not waited for you.'
'I was in the mizzentop from before sunset until a couple of minutes ago.'
'Yes,' said Jack.

(Or, if you were me reading this passage this night:
'Jack, I am so cool! Look at me! I've been having a private chat with Martin up in the mizzentop!'
'Yes, whatever.'
'I was there with him. Alone. For a very long time, Jack.'
'Whatever, I have toasted cheese
.' )

Stephen on Jack:

'And covertly-looking at the decently-restrained delight on his friend's face he wondered, 'How physically speaking, do his eyes assume this much intenser blue?'

(This quote is just made of win! ^_^ )
