It is almost five in the morning. It is dark and cold and snowy outside. It is relatively warm and dark inside. I have a cup of black tea and I am smoking happily away as I write this. If I substitute tea for coffee, then the whole atmosphere would me my perfect atmosphere for writing: fanfiction or fiction, it does not matter. I have a number of ideas in my head for another installment of my Holmes 'Food Series', a vague idea for another '1001 nights' installment that features (hopefully, if I can pull it off) Wellington's visit to Russia (yes, he went there, I too was shocked). I should probably continue my NCIS fic, but considering the last few episodes, I'm feeling less than inspired.
I also have an idea for an original piece of fiction. It's been a long time that such an idea, especially not a fantasy one, really got a hold of me. But as I am trying to sort out the basic plot, I find I cannot decide on certain twists of the story and also its timeline. Damn it. Bits of pieces come alive in my head, I can see the main characters in my head, I can feel them take on their various independent personas, I start getting a feel for how they interact with each other. And yet though the crucial points of the plot are clear I cannot get down to writing because I JUST CAN'T SEE THE WHOLE PICTURE YET! One of the characters refuses point blank to 'play' if I make the story play out in a certain way. Grrrr. Structure! Structure! I need it!.
One of the other reasons I have not written recently have got to be the additional crazy ideas I've been getting. I mean, holy crap, I wanted to write a Sharpe/Kuroshitsuji crossover. *dies* For those not in the know, Kuroshitsuji is a new anime series about a 'perfect butler' of an English Earl and it takes place in Victorian England. The whole squee-worthiness of the anime (for me at least) comes from the fact that the butler can do anything. Literally anything. He is a demon, bound to the Earl until the Earl's death. I mean I honestly was seeing some sort of butler in Wellington's employ who is a demon, or better yet, not a butler but a 'private secretary' of some sort. x _ x Or maybe even casting Sharpe in the role of the demon. XD (Like book!Sharpe the demon is black-haired)
Oh, my, also I went to this engagement party recently, where I ended up chatting half the evening away (the less sober half) with two of my friend's colleagues. My friend's fiance came up and the following conversation happened (I am trying only to pass on the essence, it's not word perfect):
Friend's Fiance: 'So, Anna have you told them about Wellington or James Duff yet?'
Anna *grinning like a loon*: 'Noooo'
1st Colleague: 'There has been a number of passing references'.
F. Fiance *sitting down*: 'Well, come on then!'
Anna *with a rather impressive amount of beer inside her*: 'Ok, Welly was a TEEN REBEL. I ain't kidding you!' *Slams beer bottle on the table, while others goggle.* He burnt his violin!
1st and 2nd Colleague, Fiance *laugh and try to make impressions of 'Teen Rebel Welly Burning his violin'. Anna joins in, living up to her name of Laughing Hyena.
Somehow this made us talk about Mary Queen of Scots and then Iraq War. x _ x Thankfully someone managed to introduce the topic of QI and Stephen Fry to distract us.
